AS 5B23

FAO 570

  • AS 5B23 belongs to the latest generation of medium early hybrids with mixed application for both ear or kernel harvesting.
  • It releases moisture very efficiently. In the lower plant densities the hybrid will increase the size, and develops nice long ears which are easy to pick. The ear has 16-18 rows, and very thin corncob (13%).
  • The kernel is with glossy endosperm, with high specific weight and nice reddish-orange color, high in quality.
  • The kernel is deeply and strongly embedded into the corncob which provides very low losses of kernel during the picking.

  • The hybrid has very solid resistance towards the corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis) and also the ear disease. This means that ears are easy to store and preserve.
  • AS 5B23 is very adaptive to different growing conditions, no barren plants, and it delivers high yields even in not so favorable conditions.
  • On the usual corn-breading grounds and with sufficient soil fertilizing, recommended sowing density is 21-23 cm in row, or 62.000 to 68.000 plants per hectare.

The recommended sowing density in poorer conditions is from 57.000 to 59.000 plants/ha, in optimal conditions from 65.000 to 68.000 plants/ha and under irrigation conditions from 70.000 to 72.000 plants/ha.
